10 Bafflingly Terrible Songs That Were Somehow Incredibly Successful

2. Ylvis €“- The Fox (What Did The Fox Say?)

Sometimes we as a society have a collective lapse in judgement, allowing stuff to become popular that really shouldn't be. Of course, we've all got to suffer the consequences after the fact while looking back, and What Does The Fox Say? is exactly one of those times.

It might be all right if the song's popularity had remained rooted in the internet (the song has received over half a billion views since it was first uploaded), but it didn't take long for it bleed into the real world too. Making animal noises shouldn't constitute as a song worthy of being certified platinum in the US, Australia and TWELVE TIMES platinum in Norway, but apparently that's exactly what it is.

I wish I was being hyperbolic, too €“ the chorus to The Fox is one part lyric and ten parts bizarre-sounding exclamations, proving that not only do the lyrics not have to make sense to be successful €“ there doesn't have to be lyrics at all.
