10 Bands Destroyed By Just One Album

1. Be Here Now - Oasis

Countless rockstars would have killed to be in Oasis in the mid-90's. After coming off of back-to-back blockbusters albums with Definitely Maybe and What's the Story Morning Glory, this Manchester act were nearly untouchable on the pop charts. However, the only issue with riding so high for so long is that you don't think of what happens next.

When coming off of their fantastic tour which included their legendary Knebworth shows, the Gallagher brothers reassembled the group to work on their daring follow-up. Not only would this be as good as their predecessors, but it just might be able to transcend the rock genre itself.

While Be Here Now is certainly far from a terrible album, the pre-release accolades it was receiving was nearly impossible for the band to actual measure up to. The great songs that Noel had been saving seemed more like Definitely Maybe leftovers while the new ones turned into plodding exercises of nothingness. This led to the record being expanded to an obnoxiously long length due to the songs being packed with guitar solos. Inside Be Here Now is one of Oasis' greatest records, but the burn felt by the fans in retrospect led to the band going on hiatus and not resurfacing until the end of the 90's.
