10 Bands Destroyed By Just One Album
6. Nevermind The !*$% - Sex Pistols
Coming out of the deepest depths of the London underground, the Sex Pistols were truly the embodiment of punk rock. Their anarchic stage shows and visceral snide attitude went on to influence countless imitators, with everyone from Liam Gallagher to Morrissey to Joe Strummer citing the band as an influence. However, it's no wonder that the anarchy aesthetic ended in such a mess.
With the band intact, the group set about creating their debut album, which would be the most unfiltered form of aggression to ever be pressed to vinyl in the 1970's. However, bassist and songwriter Glenn Matlock started to butt heads with Johnny Rotten, causing him to leave midway through the recording sessions. This left guitarist Steve Jones to record both the guitar and bass across the entire record.
While the record was eventually completed, it all went to hell once they toured America. With punk icon Sic Vicious now in their ranks, the band stumbled through the tour, with shows that culminated in Vicious cutting himself up and assaulting members of the audience. The eventual fallout from the members led to each of them going their separate ways in different planes, bringing the exact end that you might expect from a band meant to attract chaos wherever they went.
