10 Bands From The 2000s You've Definitely Forgotten
3. The Subways
Rough around the edges, fraying at the seams DIY rock and roll from the home counties can go one of two ways. Luckily for all involved, The Subways and their call and response, bubbly rock tunes manage to make the teenager in all of us smile despite still being mad at our parents.
With songs drenched in this spazzy, frenetic energy that only a disillusioned middle class child could develop because, and being completely honest here, sometimes you don’t need to mess about with the frilly bits of the music world.
Sometimes what you need
to do is turn up with your brother and your missus, hit the drums hard, play the
bass loud, crack out a few simple riffs that will still be good to go a century
from now and go for a drink.
Anthemic, head bangers that are stripped down to the carcass situated somewhere between rock music and a hard place. The Subways are the proverbial small town band gone big a la Young Knives or The Holloways but just with a little more spunk, spit and kidney punch about them.
Listen to The Subways when you don’t feel like dealing with your responsibilities or being an adult anymore.
