10 Bands That Ended Their Careers On A High Note

1. Abbey Road - The Beatles

Towards the end of the '60s, the entire Beatles enterprise seemed to be in absolute shambles. The Fabs had already not been on the same page and at each other's throats on the White Album, and now they had spent time rehearsing tunes for a back to basics project that would be shelved until Let It Be was released. The writing was on the wall for a break up, but the Beatles wanted to leave their fans with something special for their final outing.

Going through each song on Abbey Road, you can hear how much these men have grown as musicians, from John Lennon's take on the blues on Come Together or Paul McCartney's cheery music on Maxwell's Silver Hammer. As much as the Lennon/McCartney machine defined the band for years, the greatest music on here comes courtesy of George Harrison, with Something and Here Comes the Sun being among the most celebrated Beatles tracks.

Just like every other Beatles album though, there are those few moments that you would have never expected, from accidentally inventing doom metal on I Want You (She's So Heavy) to delving into baroque music on Because before running through different snippets of songs on the back end of the record. For all of the hard times they were facing with each other, Abbey Road is where the Beatles captured that feeling of love and happiness once last time. Now it was up to the rest of the rock scene to try and reach that same kind of perfection.
