10 Bands That Everyone Loves To Hate
9. Dave Matthews Band
If there's one word that's typically used to describe the Dave Matthews Band, it's harmless. While there has been plenty to hate about the man's music, he is still a perfectly fine musician who puts on a stellar live show whenever he comes through town. There's nothing wrong with being harmless, but to hear it from one record to the next starts to grade on you after a while.
Though the band has at least one amazing album in their catalog with Crash, the rest of the group's body of work tends to get pushed to the side as too mellow for most to stomach.
Along with their more soft sounds on record, it's almost like night and day when you eventually go to see the band perform live. Known primarily as a jam band, every single person on stage shoots from the hip with licks that almost feel like second nature to them.
In this case, it's not so much about Dave Matthews himself, but rather with the endless amount of wasted potential at play every time another lukewarm record sees release. You might want to catch that live show at least once in your life, but as far as the albums go, you might want to stick with the classics until further notice.
