10 Bands That Everyone Loves To Hate

5. KISS

It's really hard to make a concept like KISS uninteresting. For as straight ahead as some of the band's party anthems can be, every single one of their shows is an absolute spectacle, from bombs going off to levitating drums to a Demon who breathes fire and spits blood for everyone to enjoy. That kind of delivery just screams excitement, but it gets a lot less fun when you see the people behind the makeup.

Ever since the band's inception in the '70s, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons have each been known to indulge in more snobbish behavior over the years. Though Ace Frehley and Peter Criss weren't necessarily golden, the way that Stanley makes everyone not aligned with his ideas out to be an awful person just speaks to how insecure he is about his own ideas.

While Stanley may have a good heart at the end of the day, Simmons pulls absolutely no punches when making his assholery known, down to exclusively branding his content in interviews and feeling almost no human connection to anyone he comes in contact with.

The band may have written plenty of classic tunes in their time, but the KISS we know today just feels like a bunch of businessmen who happen to have guitars in their hand during important meetings.
