10 Bands That Fell Apart After One Album
5. Grace - Jeff Buckley
It's never easy to hold a career in music together for too long. You have to always worry about being on top of the next trend, try to make sure that you can fit in with the zeitgeist at the time, and tour around the world and maybe fit some time in for your family and friends. It looked like Jeff Buckley was more than up to a challenge like that, but his career ended as one of the biggest what ifs? that the music world had ever seen.
While not necessarily the biggest album in the world, his debut record Grace made for one of the most ethereal albums of the '90s, as Jeff bridged the gap between jazz, pop, and old school rock and roll over the span of just 10 tracks. Going through his body of work, you can see him slowly finding himself on these songs, like going for the Zeppelin like finesse on a song like Dream Brother and suddenly bringing it down to his take on Hallelujah or the heartbroken ballad Lover You Should've Come Over.
Just as he seemed to be reaching his true potential though, it all came to a sudden stop in 1997, when he was found dead of an accidental drowning when taking a break from the touring life. While we have the basis of what would have been his next album Sketches For My Sweetheart, it's still only fragments of the amazing talent that seemed almost too good for this world.
