10 Bands That Got Over Losing A Lead Singer

5. Barenaked Ladies

The early '90s weren't a time to take anything too seriously. Though Kurt Cobain and the accompanying alternative nation made everything sound like the fate of the world was dependent on good music, are we going to just forget how dopey some of those bands could get at the worst of times? No, music was not all that serious...and Barenaked Ladies is proof of that.

Although albums like Gordon have made them superstars in their native Canada, the Ladies' career trajectory has been a bit strange outside of their home country. Having only one major hit in the States with One Week, they've always been a relatively nice sounding group, bringing across clever wordplay, heartfelt songs, and even a touch of humor to what they did. The songs ended up going so well that they even managed to carry on without one of their founding members.

Towards the turn of the '00s, it was announced that Steven Page would no longer be a part of the Ladies' lineup, instead relinquishing vocal duties to Ed Robertson for the rest of their tenure. Then again, this was only a positive if you considered yourself a fan of the more rapid fire stuff that would go on in songs like One Week. Since Canada has always looked after their own, it's safe to say that the Ladies will probably still have their fans no matter how long IT'S BEEN.
