10 Bands That Just Need To Stop
4. 30 Seconds To Mars
The music industry and a large ego is not an uncommon partnership. Axl Rose, Gene Simmons, Bono, they've all made it known that they think they are the dog's plums, but not even they can eclipse their own bands. Most people know of Slash or Paul Stanley, and at a push, maybe even The Edge, but 30STM will forever live in the shadow of Jared Leto.
Following their prog-heavy self-titled debut in 2002, 2005's A Beautiful Lie saw Leto and co. explode into the mainstream with their unique brand of searing alt rock and guy-liner. For album number three, they swapped the guy-liner for a pink mohawk and pretentiousness. From this point, there was no going back.
The music video to 'Closer to the Edge' featured the caption "and yes he is standing on top of the crowd" as if punk hadn't been a thing for the previous 30 years; they created a host of issues at Download Festival 2013 by making themselves the law and then there was that damn Nirvana cover. On top of all that, Leto says 30STM "is not just a band but an art project".
I'd say stick to acting, but he sucks at that too.
