10 Bands That Just Need To Stop

5. Green Day

Green Day are to this day, one of the most important bands ever to grace punk. Taking a previous anti-mainstream genre and aesthetic, and bringing it front and centre. If there was ever a pop punk 'Big 4', they would be Metallica.

Their 1991 album Kerplunk stands as one of the best-selling independent albums of all time and 1994's Dookie has been cited by Fuse as the single most important pop punk album ever released. Their career since has been somewhat tumultuous.

The three album stretch from Insomniac to Warning had the band explore their heaviest and softest sound, only for American Idiot to revive the band in ways no one could've ever predicted, sending the band into Queen-sized stadium shows across the world.

Anything after American Idiot was never gonna measure up, but the releases since have been more deflated than the Hindenburg. The ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! experiment in particular sounded more like side-projects than full releases.

2016's Revolution Radio did rekindle some of the stronger points from American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, but in 2018, very few people care about a new Green Day album. They have the classics. They don't need anything else.
