10 Bands That Never Made The Same Album
7. David Bowie
Every other generation has an artist that almost defies genre. Though they may have a common thread laced throughout their work, you never know what to expect when these performers let loose in a studio. Rather than just being a figurehead for glam rock, David Bowie arrived from a distant planet and shook up the entire rock scene.
Originally starting out playing psychedelic pop, the outlandish fashion and harsher attack Bowie employed on albums like Aladdin Sane cemented the glam rock wave of bands like T. Rex and Sweet. Any artist would be happy if that were their only career highlight, but Bowie never wanted to be tied down to one genre. Across the next few decades, he spent most of his time expanding his musical knowledge, from the blue eyed soul of Young Americans to the weird ambient tracks that flow through albums like Low.
Even when he reached the '90s and '00s, Bowie never stopped expanding his vision, with songs like "I'm Afraid of Americans" taking on an industrial groove. Up until his tragic passing, Bowie still had more to give with Blackstar, which gave his last living musical testament a cool jazzy flavor. David Bowie's time with the Earth may have been short, but there's no doubt that he's still enchanting the next plain of existence with his musical aura.
