10 Bands That Only Ever Released One Good Album
6. Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures (2009)
Supergroups are notorious for hyping up music fans, only to disband before the reality of it all sets in. The Traveling Wilburys, only gave us two records during their brief existence from 1988 - 1991. And, The Dirty Mac, headed by John Lennon and containing, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Mitch Mitchell, famously teased the world with a single live performance back in 1968.
So it was inevitable that when John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl and Josh Homme teamed up, it seemed too good to possibly last. And indeed, all we got from the power trio was one album, but god damn, what an album. When you have the bass player from Led Zeppelin, pumping out fat rumbling melodies, with the drummer from Nirvana pounding away on the drums, you know something magical is going to happen. But, add in the frontman of Queens of the Stone Age on guitar, and you're in rock fantasy.
This album wont surprise you. It's exactly what you might imagine from this line up. It's over an hour of solid no-nonsense rock music. Although all three members have teased a follow up album since the bands debut release, sadly we haven't received any new music. Maybe we're just being greedy...
