10 Bands That Only Have One Key Member
2. Trent Reznor - Nine Inch Nails
It was becoming abundantly clear by the end of the '80s that hair metal wasn't going to survive into the next decade. By the time songs like Cherry Pie by Warrant started lighting up the charts, people were starting to realize that the entire movement had started to look absolutely ridiculous, with bands that were just looking to be seen on MTV and nothing more. The grunge movement may have given us a change of pace, but Trent Reznor was slowly building up the momentum with Nine Inch Nails.
While Trent's original idea for Nine Inch Nails was a collaborative industrial rock outfit, he turned into the complete package after Pretty Hate Machine, always pushing his music to be as abrasive as possible. Across every single one of the albums released in the '90s, you can hear Trent trying to peel paint off the wall through the sheer chaos that he's creating, like the pure thrash sounds of March of the Pigs or the abrasive sounds of Wish.
Since cleaning up his act at the turn of the century though, Trent has turned Nine Inch Nails into something much more than just a band, lending his talents on the production side of things while also finding time to work on ambient projects, film soundtracks, and back to Nine Inch Nails music over the course of his career. The jury may be out on when this man actually sleeps, but Trent is determined to find out where his muse is going to take him next as much as the fans are.
