10 Bands That Stole Another Band's Sound
2. Radiohead To Muse
Muse has remained one of the most interesting acts going in the rock world today. Standing at just three people, this power trio has mixed everything from alternative to classical music to electronica to arena rock to help fill out their gargantuan sound. Even with that many influences at their disposal, people still have found similarities to another rock giant.
Ever since the band’s debut with Showbiz, they have constantly been called a substitute Radiohead by fans around the world. Though Muse may have their sound in their own right, it’s not that hard to see where the naysayers are coming from.
The tenor register of Matt Bellamy has always been somewhat reminiscent of Thom Yorke’s spectral croon, but Muse has always been more than just their frontman. While both bands have also had songs related to space travel, the similarities seem less in practice and more in creative mindset.
From the start, both Radiohead and Muse have always refused to be tied down to one genre, but that’s where the comparisons should end. Whether you’re listening to Black Holes and Revelations or In Rainbows, both bands have done what they could to toy with their sound at every turn.
Muse may have put out some tunes that feel like leftovers from Ok Computer, but songs like “Knights of Cydonia” and “Uprising” have given them a sound all their own.
