10 Bands Who Were Justified In Changing Sounds
8. Kings Of Leon
Brothers Caleb, Nathan, Jared, along with their cousin Matthew formed Kings of Leon back in 1999 and have gradually become one of the most well-known stadium rock bands in the world.
However, things didn't start out that way for the band from Nashville. With all the band members growing up regularly attending traditional Christian mass, elements of soul and preaching can be heard in the group's early direction, leading to a far more rhythm, bluesy sound.
Having released their first EP, Holy Roller Novocaine, in February and their first album, Youth and Young Manhood, in July 2003, Kings of Leon became a well respected group within the industry, albeit a still largely undiscovered one.
Having proven themselves as a skilled and passionate band, Kings of Leon began to broaden their style in their second album, Aha Shake Heartbreak, in October 2004 with the lead single from the release, The Bucket, rising to the top 20 in the UK.
The peak of Kings of Leon's success would come with their fourth album, Only By The Night, in 2008 however. Hit singles Sex on Fire and Use Somebody were the mainstream-sounding songs the group had ever produced, but it did bag them two BRIT Awards in 2009 alone.
