After a string of somewhat boring albums, the Foo Fighters released the classic Wasting Light in 2011, recorded entirely on analogue tape format in Dave Grohl's personal studio with Nirvana producer Butch Vig. The record was front to back no holds-barred rock music, from the opening riffery of Bridge Burning to the impassioned and sentimental Walk. The band took a little hiatus after the promotional tour, returning last year to finally begin work on their follow up, repeatedly promising a revolutionary album in the way its recorded. The band have launched a website called Foo Fighters TV in an effort to promote the new album too, but as of right now its use is unknown, leading some to speculate the album would be recorded in a live stream, that being the revolutionary recording method. However, recent reports indicate that each track will be recorded in a different city, and the album is being recorded with Butch Vig and Steve Albini. Wasting Light was the perfect soundtrack to the spring of 2011, so its slightly disappointing the album isn't coming out anytime soon, that is unless the band really surprise us and spontaneously release it with no announcement. We're keeping our fingers crossed.
