10 Beatles Songs Not Written By The Beatles
7. Cryin - Aerosmith
From day one, Aerosmith was always considered to be on the blusier side of the spectrum. While they did have some great tunes, many of them were more in tune with a band like the Rolling Stones than the Beates. As time went on though, we got to see the more melodic side of the Bad Boys from Boston rear its head.
Many people tend to see the band’s 1993 album Get a Grip as a sign of terrible things to come, but a song like “Cryin” is still beautiful regardless. Opening up with an amazing horn section, the breakdown divulges into slowly picked guitars, as Steven Tyler opens up about how much he is in love with this girl. For as much as the band’s trademark sound is still there, the chorus of the tune feels like it could have been written during the Beatles’ midperiod between 1965-1967.
That’s not to say that the band had necessarily lost their identity, with the guitar solo by Joe Perry infusing the right amount of grit back into the track. This is the kind of song that Aerosmith got accused of selling out on, but not even the biggest naysayers can put down this song’s emotional power.
