In between these two records Tremonti would discover Myles' playing prowess (he's a virtuouso guitar teacher), and it's really here the beast Alter Bridge was born. Ties' lyrics delve into the exact situation the band found themselves in at the time; gnawing to get free from previous contractual obligations that bound them to a potential reputation and direction they didn't want. Myles sounds absolutely furious at points thanks to every band member having to fork out their own savings to get out this previous arrangement - so if it sounds like they're playing like their life depended on it... they pretty much were.
