9. Coming Home – Hail To The King (2013)
Hail to the King is an interesting album. Whilst some fans felt it was a little too similar to the band’s main influences, critics were largely impressed.
In contrast to some of the big singles such as ‘Shepherd of Fire’ and ‘Hail to the King’, ‘Coming Home’ is not a particularly well-known song. However, it is certainly a standout track on Hail to the King.
The guitar licks in this song are some of the catchiest in the band’s discography, and the riff that plays during the bridge and the closing section is particularly good.
However, M. Shadows still makes his mark. His vocals during the chorus get stuck in the head at once, and his repetition of the line ‘I’m coming home’ makes for a great close to the song.
As such, ‘Coming Home’ is definitely a track to check out for those who are less familiar with Avenged Sevenfold’s more obscure work.
