10 Best Blink-182 Songs
2. I Miss You – Blink-182 (2003)
With the possible exception of ‘All the Small Things’, ‘I Miss You’ is Blink-182’s most well-known song. Interestingly, these two singles have very little in common.
‘I Miss You’ is one of the few Blink-182 songs without any distortion. Instead, the instrumental is driven by a clean guitar tone and a terrific drum pattern by Barker that hooks in the listener at once.
'I Miss You' also contains plenty of classic instrumentation throughout which makes the track feel like a movie soundtrack at times. The cello and the piano are particularly good, especially during the closing stages of the song.
As for the vocals, the song features the voices of both Hoppus and Delonge, and the two vocalists work well alongside the melancholic atmosphere of the instrumental. Moreover, the lyrics during the verses are wonderfully poetic which matches the classic instrumentation perfectly.
Despite not being an accurate representation of the band’s overall sound, 'I Miss You' is a beautifully-written track that deserves all the attention it gets.
