10 Best Covers Of Beach Boys Songs

4. Fun, Fun, Fun – Grandaddy

One of the great early singles that the band recorded, Fun, Fun, Fun, written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, was released by the Beach Boys in 1964. It helped define the Californian dream of endless beaches, omnipresent sunshine, good times and easy living.

Allegedly based on an incident from Dennis Wilson's life, this relentlessly upbeat teen number might not display the style and sophistication of later Beach Boys' tracks, but it remains a wonderful slice of mercurial fun.

As one of the most distinctive and original bands of the modern era, Modesto, California group Grandaddy were the perfect unit to cover this track. Like The Beach Boys, Grandaddy walked a tightrope between hope and despair, in a land where beautiful melodies collided with inventive soundscapes and melancholy lyrics.
