4. I Feel It Coming - Starboy
Outside of their main studio output, most of the strongest moments of Daft Punk's career have come when they're playing off of other pop luminaries. Ever since collaborating with Romanthony all the way back on Discovery for One More Time, the incorporation of other artists into the mix have made for musical magic whenever it touched our eardrums. Even when hopping on tracks for other artists though, Daft Punk managed to outshine the Weeknd on I Feel It Coming.
That's not to say that the R&B crooner doesn't do a great job on this cut, being a fitting end to his massive crossover album Starboy. However, Daft Punk is the real star of the show behind the scenes, taking the basic set of chords of the song and turning them into something much more exciting by adding their robotic backing vocals and synthetic touch.
Whereas The Weeknd has been compared to Michael Jackson at many different points in his career, this is one of the only tracks that actually feels like an honest Jacko B-side, with a backing track so pristine that Quincy Jones could have a writing credit on it. Although it's up to Daft Punk what they do in the future, the fact that we were never able to get a true collaboration album from these two feels like a missed opportunity when you have songs this amazing.
