10 Best Daft Punk Songs Ever
5. Derezzed - Tron Legacy
Whenever you hear about famous musicians composing movie scores, it can't help but feel just the slightest bit pretentious. While we have gotten some great scores out of the likes of Elton John for the Lion King, a lot of these tend to feel like vanity projects when put against the rest of the artists' work. When it comes to Daft Punk though, you can't really script a better band to take on the soundtrack to Tron.
As far as this retro throwback to the '80s film goes, this is one of the more adventurous things that Daft Punk have ever made. Learning their chops at mixing different sonic elements together on the live stage, this entire project really flows together like you would imagine a proper album would, with Derezzed being the main standout on the record. Much like the other bangers in their catalog, this track is a great exercise in dynamics for Daft Punk, as if you are seeing the synthetic races take place in real time while you listen.
For any of the fairweather Daft Punk fans who didn't give the soundtrack a chance, songs like this will leave you surprised as to the chops these robots have kept in their twilight years. It's no John Williams score or anything, but for the group's first true collaboration with a franchise, this is still far better than any other electronic act could ever hope to be.
