3. Nirvana - "In Bloom"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbgKEjNBHqM Dave Grohl joined Nirvana in 1991 and his first album with the band was 1991's Nevermind, one of the biggest albums of all time. Four singles were released from the album; "In Bloom" was the last, coming out nearly a year after the album was released. Cobain described the song as an attack to intolerant people like "rednecks, macho men and abusive people" and the chorus itself even mocks people who sing along but don't get the message; "He likes to sing along/But he knows not what it means". Given this detail, Grohl's drum part becomes even more powerful, giving the song the further angst it needed to project Cobain's anger for the fame and attention they had received from the people they grew up hating, like jocks and bullies. The drum part is one of the more well known from Nevermind, with the intro baring a resemblance to an earlier entry on the list; "Scentless Apprentice." Although not Grohl's most complex part, it just works. From the intro, with alternating bass pedal to tom tom hits to the relatively simple verse part, it is no doubt one of the reasons that it's one of Nirvana's most famous songs.
