10 Best Debut Rock Albums Of The 2000s

9. Hot Fuss - The Killers

Fusing pop, rock, new wave, and indie together in one big sexy pot, The Killers broke on to the scene in 2003 and changed the sound of British club nights forever.

If you say that you've been on a night out in the last ten years and haven't heard Mr. Brightside at least once, then you're a big fat liar.

That song was the lead single from Hot Fuss, the band's 2004 debut album. Its monumental success paved the way for the rest of the record, which is now utterly cherished amongst indie rock fans from this time period.

Mr. Brightside wasn't the only top tier tune on Hot Fuss. The second single, Somebody Told Me, continued to present the band as lonely minstrels; icons for the heartbroken and disenchanted.

Other tracks like Jenny Was a Friend of Mine, Smile Like You Mean It, and All These Things That I've Done are still popular amongst Killers fans today, as is this entire album to be fair.

Hot Fuss is a snapshot of a very particular moment in time, when sad pretty boys with vacant stares ruled the world.
