10 Best Debut Rock Albums Of The 2000s

7. Disturbed - The Sickness

All together now - OOH, WAH-AH-AH-AH!

On March 7th 2000, Disturbed showed that Nu Metal was still alive and kicking in this strange new decade.

The band's first album, The Sickness, came after six years of cycling through members, changing names, and David Draiman trying to figure out where to get his chin pierced.

All this time spent fine-tooling their sound meant that, when their debut did come along, Disturbed already sounded like a veteran act. They had a concise, polished output that heavy metal fans latched on to immediately.

It also helped that the songs kicked ass.

Tracks like Stupify and Voices highlighted the band's many strengths. They even displayed their penchant for covering old songs, including a version of Tears for Fears' Shout.

And, of course, there was WAH-AH-AH-AH!

It might be a bit of a meme now, but Down with the Sickness is still a fantastic rock song and has endured as one of Disturbed's most popular tunes for a reason.

A good debut album should announce the intentions of a band to the world and there's no denying that's exactly what The Sickness did here.
