10 Best Debut Rock Music Albums Of The 2010s

3. Innerspeaker - Tame Impala

Staying Down Under for now, another big name from Oz also planted their flag for the first time in the 2010s.

Kevin Parker (the man behind Tame Impala) is a genius, we all know that now, but his talents were unknown at the time Innerspeaker came out.

Tame Impala's first major release showed that the fuzzy, homemade lo-fi rock of the 1960s was still alive and well in the hands of this very astute Aussie.

With a delightfully amateurish vibe to it, Innerspeaker sounded like it was recorded on someone's heavily out-of-date Mac.

Guitars, drums, and synthesisers all smashed together in a swirling cloud of hedonistic bliss, as Parker showed the world that you didn't need any sort of narcotics to feel like you were floating through a drug-fuelled haze.

The whole thing only gets more impressive when you realise that Parker played most of the instruments on this album himself. Aside from a handful of parts on a few songs, this is an entirely solo project.

How is that fair?

Whilst Tame Impala would go on to reach even higher heights with future releases, Innerspeaker was still mightily impressive for a first go around.
