10 Best Debut Rock Music Albums Of The 2010s
2. Blunderbuss - Jack White
The White Stripes haven't released an album since 2007. That just doesn't sound right, does it?
That doesn't mean that guitarist and singer Jack White hasn't been a busy boy in all those years, as he's released several solo albums since he and Meg went their separate ways.
In fact, he's put out more records than The White Stripes did! Again, that's just not right!
First up from Mr. White was Blunderbuss, presumably named after his favourite type of antiquated firearm.
Unlike the weapon in question, Blunderbuss is not all just loud noises and wanton destruction.
There's a quiet civility to this album as White pushes himself as a songwriter. He relies much less heavily on huge, stadium-filling riffs and more on thoughtfully-created melodies.
Although, the song Sixteen Saltines will still smack you in the face if you're not paying attention. That thing is lethal.
White maintained a lot of what made his band so special whilst also showcasing a lot of new stuff. It would have been a real shame if this album had just been a secret White Stripes record, but that thankfully wasn't the case.
