8. Soldier
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uILgb3NJMIQ You better be street, if you're looking at me? Yep, do you remember this song now? Released in 2004, Beyonce and Kelly had already had incredible success as solo artists with classic "Crazy in Love" and "Dilemma" respectively. Now I'm no expert in African American under ground rappers, but my white boy deductions tell me that T.I. and Lil Wayne featuring on the track was a huge coup, even for its era. The fashion featuring bare mid drifts and hipster jeans is categorically 2000's style and the sound of the tune isn't over produced, while at the same time is bloody infectious. 7. Independent Woman Part 1.
In conjunction with the reboot of the Charlie's Angels franchise 13 years ago, Destiny's Child produced a song glorifying the positive elements of the typically strong and unsurprisingly independent woman. This was performed as part of the Superbowl set, so is one of the more better known and remembered tracks but like many of the music of the group, it does sound very dated today particularly when watching the music video. Ugh what were they thinking?! It still does take us back to the good old days, you know, when the music industry wasn't digital? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuMmfDWMLgY
