10 Best Diana Ross Tracks

8. My Old Piano

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6ahzLGK_VY 1980 saw the release of the singer's most commercially successful studio album, diana, produced by Chic's Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. During the late 1970's, the USA faced the Disco Sucks movement where rock fans launched a huge backlash against disco music. Being a fearless pioneer Diana stuck to her guns (and a formula that had already proven successful for her) and released the heavily disco-influenced album, diana. Producers Rodgers and Edwards incorporated Ross's established style with an edgier funk sound by speeding up track tempos and removing long instrumental sections. The end result is history. The third single from the album, My Old Piano was not a huge hit in the US, but shot to dozens of Top Ten's in Europe. Diana sings alongside one of Rodgers and Edward's catchiest beats in this funky track which uses the metaphor of an old piano as a symbol of a romantic relationship (or perhaps I'm simply reading too much into things and it is actually just about an old piano.)
