10 Best Final Albums In Rock

4. Synchronicity - The Police

When the new wave craze swept the nation in the late 70's, the Police arrived on the scene like seasoned musical veterans. With each member's vast musical knowledge, this power trio pushed the boundaries of their sound with each record. When the mid-80's rolled around however, the band members were at each other's throats.

During the recording of Synchronicity, Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland were so tense that they recorded each of their parts in separate rooms. That sounds like a recipe for a pop-diva style disaster, but this 1983 masterpiece proved that no social hiccups could stop the Police's power.

Sting's melodic phrasing on this album made for the band's poppiest moments on songs like "Wrapped Around Your Finger" and everyone's favorite stalker anthem, "Every Breath You Take." Both parts of the title track also proved that the band still knew how to rock with the best of them. At the time, Synchronicity was being looked at as one of the greatest albums to ever come from the new wave and post-punk scenes. With tensions finally boiling over after the recording, the Police made one of their most perfect albums and then decided to call it a day.
