10 Best Hard Rock Albums Of The 80s
1. Back In Black - AC/DC
By the middle of the 80's, AC/DC were probably the last band people expected to deliver a classic. While the band's previous hit with Highway to Hell was still rocketing up the charts, the death of singer Bon Scott left many to question whether the band should even continue on.
However, the songwriting team of the Young brothers were not planning on spending the rest of the year moping about Scott's demise. After the funeral, the band started auditioning singers before coming across Brian Johnson, whose throaty rasp filled in the void that was left by Bon's departure. With Johnson in tow, the band cut the basic tracks of their next record with production giant Mutt Lange and wrote the lyrics partly in tribute to their rock brother. The band thought they had created a great record, but nothing could have prepared them for what unfolded.
Far from being just a rock record, Back in Black became the definitive AC/DC record with hits from the title track to "Shoot to Thrill" to the blistering "Hells Bells." When the band was down and out, they stepped forward with the album that defined everything that was inspiring about rock and roll.
