10 Best Hard Rock Albums Since 2010
1. Ghost - Prequelle
In the 2010's rock landscape, it felt like the only good rock music was coming from bands of the old guard. Had rock gotten so stale that we had to rely on old dogs to show us new tricks? Once Ghost hit the scene, we knew that the next generation of rock would be just fine.
Ghost are a beautiful amalgam of a band, with a macabre presentation and music that sounds like it's coming from the best metal band you've never heard. Once the band had made a name for themselves with their chamber-music metal on records like Opus Eponymous, it was now time for the band to take some chances.
As 2018 rolled around, mastermind Tobias Forge took the band in a different direction with Prequelle, which was an endlessly entertaining rock scorcher. With the frontman Papa Emeritus changed to Cardinal Copia, the record possessed an undeniable rock swagger from the beat of "Dance Macabre" to the singalong chorus of "RRRRRats." Even the record's instrumental cut, "Miasma," is irresistible with its infectious riffs and saxophone freakout. As the 2020's begin, Ghost have become one of the premier acts on the rock scene, with Prequelle being their finest artistic triumph to date.
