10 Best Hard Rock Albums Since 2010

7. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

Across the 2000's, the Foo Fighters had grown into rock's true elderstatesmen as they brought rock into sharper focus in the mainstream. However, after the band had come off of two ambitious records with the double album In Your Honor and Echoes Silence Patience and Grace, Dave Grohl wanted to strips things back a bit.

Once production started, Grohl announced that the next record would be made on tape in his house. With the older analog equipment and DIY approach, this project had some fans a bit wary of what the Foos were up to.

Thankfully, Wasting Light was everything that fans loved about the band taken to the nth degree. Even with the different recording approach, each track sounds huge as the guitars roar out of your speakers like a tidal wave. With the more in-house approach (excuse the pun), Grohl's featured guests on the record made for some great moments like Bob Mould's vocal on "Dear Rosemary" and Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic on "I Should Have Known."

Even if this album is a long way from the The Colour and the Shape, The Foos' kicked the decade off with one of the most solid releases of their entire career.
