10 Best Hard Rock Bands Not In The Hall Of Fame
4. Iron Maiden
Been Eligible Since: 2005
Metal icons Iron Maiden have been a staple of the genre ever since their self-titled debut release in 1980. With a penchant for sweeping dual guitars, vast lyrical subject matter and a consistently stellar branding and image, the band has become a dominant act not just in British heavy metal, but in the genre of heavy metal as a whole.
Quintessential albums such as The Number of the Beast (1982), Piece of Mind (1983), Powerslave (1984), Somewhere in Time (1986) and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988) all serve to prove the talent and raw power behind the music of Iron Maiden.
Much like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden also seem to have suffered from a lack of heavy metal representation within the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. An absolute shame, considering that very few bands have been able to release such a high number of quality material over a career that has spanned over four decades.
It wouldn't be far from the truth to say that Iron Maiden are pioneers of the genre, and the fact that they have been snubbed by the Hall of Fame for 15 years now only shows that there is still an embarrassingly large number of omissions of heavy metal bands within the Hall of Fame.
