10 Best Hard Rock Bands Not In The Hall Of Fame

3. Mötley Crüe

Been Eligible Since: 2006

Spearheads of the 1980s glam rock scene, Mötley Crüe's career has been shrouded in infamy and controversy, embodying the "spirit of rock 'n' roll" to excessive and often dangerous lengths.

Throughout the 1980s, the band released albums that defined the period and the music scene that they originated from, such as their 1981 debut Too Fast for Love, 1987's Girls Girls Girls and 1989's Dr. Feelgood. Tracks like "Live Wire", "Same Ol' Situation", "Girls Girls Girls" and "Kickstart My Heart" exhibit the dynamic energy and aggressiveness that have become defining characteristics of the glam rock movement of the 1980s.

Even with a legacy as notorious as Mötley Crüe's, the band has never been considered for induction in the 14 years that they have been eligible. In a scene surrounded by cheap imitators and wannabes, the band were still able to stand out musically and visually, further demonstrating their defining uniqueness and talent.

Bassist Nikki Sixx claims that this is due to their infamous reputation, stating in a 2015 Kerrang! interview that "we were told by the Hall of Fame that we would never get in, because of how we've acted, so that's kind of it." Sums it up pretty nicely.
