10 Best Hard Rock Comeback Albums Ever

2. Blizzard Of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne

In 1979, singer Ozzy Osbourne was fired from Black Sabbath, following various conflicts with the other band members throughout the decade. After leaving, Osbourne reportedly locked himself away for three months doing cocaine and alcohol abuse, and it was believed his career was over.

However, the singer managed to get himself signed to Jet Records, and with the addition of a new supergroup (including Randy Rhoads - a legendary guitarist gone before his time, it must be said) the Blizzard of Ozz project commenced, credited under Osbourne as a solo artist and kicking off his newly reformed career.

The album on its release was a triumph - it was certified 4x platinum in the US, a feat Osbourne wouldn't achieve again for another ten years, and has sold six million copies to date. The tracks themselves (especially with the inclusion of Rhoads's incredible shredding) feel energised and show Ozzy back at the top of his game. 'Crazy Train' and 'Mr Crowley' in particular remain signature songs to this day.

The album propelled Osbourne into international stardom, and it's no coincidence he continues to be known as the Godfather of heavy metal to this day.
