10 Best Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Songs Of 2017 (So Far)

4. The Betrayal (Act III) - Nickelback

WHAT?! NICKELBACK?!

I know, but just give it a listen.

Though Chad Kroeger and chums tend to get cast aside for writing too many smoochy, Bon Jovi-esque love ballads (or Kroeger singing about his penis on "Something In Your Mouth"), The Betrayal (Act III) is almost a prog-rock track - as far away as you can get from their standard fare.

Now, it's not as multi-faceted as something Claudio Sanchez or Dream Theatre could whip up, but from the acoustic intro to pace-building drums, fantastically punchy groove and home run-hitting chorus, this is the best, most recommendable song the band have put out in years.

To be frank, Nickelback continue to stand the test of time because the band are all fantastic musicians, throwing together some exemplary riffs with a pure quality production. Feed the Machine is a far cry from the Flo Rida-guesting No Fixed Address, and if you can get past people saying "You're listening to Nickelback?!" the song itself will back you up.
