10 Best Hard Rock Music Videos Of The 80s

5. Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones (1981)

At the start of the decade it's clear some veteran bands didn't really know how to conduct themselves during a video shoot. Although nothing can rival the visual experience that is Dancing In The Street - Where Mick Jagger and David Bowie cavort about in back alleys and all but make out with each other - this comes pretty close.

If Jagger's moves in that video win the award for most ridiculous then this comes a close second. The video opens with Jagger dressed like he's just done a session in the dance studio, he then exhibits some moves, that if done by anyone else would make you recoil with quiet unease. But this is Jagger, his moves might be alarming but he makes it work.

The rest of the video is full of awkward, yet endearing interactions with the band. Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards do their best to get into it. Charlie Watts sits stoically behind the drum kit, and Bill Wyman looks notably uncomfortable. Every now and then Watts exchanges a look with Wyman, as if to indicate they're both equally embarrassed by how their lead singer is conducting himself.
