10 Best Hard Rock Songs Of The 2000's
3. No One Knows - Queens Of The Stone Age
Once Queens of the Stone Age got to making their third album Songs for the Deaf, they pretty much had their desert rock sound down to a science. Instead of relying on the sounds of his previous band Kyuss, Josh Homme brought together some of the most talented rockers of the era to create musical magic on "No One Knows."
This tune is a much more refined version of the sound the band were toying around with on their previous effort Rated R, only blown up to more epic proportions. Since the band were known to tune down their instruments pretty regularly, the listener is left with one of the gnarliest guitar tones the era had ever heard. The drum fills from Dave Grohl also add an added excitement to each verse, as Homme details the seedy escapades of the band as they take a ride through the California desert.
Once the bass break starts, the song is kicked into high gear with Homme's guitar solo, which feels like fiery doom being rained on you from above. "No One Knows" is the sound of rock's past being brought into the present, with Queens of the Stone Age as the genre's reigning kings.
