10 Best Image Changes In Music History
7. Gwen Stefani Ditched Ska For R&B/Pop
Gwen Stefani rose to prominence in the music industry with No Doubt in the mid 1990s, but the band had been going ever since their formation in 1986. With Stefani at front and centre of the band's image, the group would release their first album in 1992 and go onto release several titles across the decade with their ska influences prevalent throughout.
No Doubt would shift their image into the more alternative and pop rock worlds as the '90s rolled on, sporting shorter, sharper haircuts and the decade's standard baggy selection of outfits.
Stefani began producing her own music in 2004 when No Doubt were on a hiatus, and it was quite the shift in image from what audiences were used to seeing from her previously. Her debut album delved properly into the world of pop and songs such as Hollaback Girl and Rich Girl featured a far more rap and R&B inspired look.
From long flowing gowns, to pinup pop culture, Gwen Stefani has really made a name for herself as one of the world's most glamorous stars, regularly shifting her image in innovative ways from release to release.
