Prior to the release of Blunderbuss, Third Man Records decided to issue the superb 'Freedom at 21' in 1,000 flexi-disc records attached to blue helium balloons. According to TMR's website, this was designed to "get records in the hands of people who don't visit record shops." At the time of the launch, they believed that only around 10% of the records would be recovered; but optimistically stated they would at least be collectible items. What a different world it would be if everyone released records in this way.
