4. Under Great White Northern Lights
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3E-a_IJpsw Under Great White Northern Lights was a series of releases by The White Stripes, including a documentary, live album available as LP and CD, and a photobook of the band's 2007 tour of Canada. Within this string of shows, they played to audiences literally anywhere they could; from an acoustic performance on a bus in Winnipeg to a private show for Inuit elders. The documentary is beautifully shot and often touching. The White Stripes were known for being an extremely private band, perhaps best reflected - and I hate to bring this up - in the now infamous ruse that Jack and Meg were brother and sister rather than divorcees. Such a personal glimpse into their lives on tour and - above all - their connection offstage, was a treat no White Stripes fan probably ever believed they'd witness. The documentary ends with a particularly intimate scene, an emotional performance of 'Get Behind Me Satan's 'White Moon', played so movingly by Jack after their tenth anniversary show that Meg is brought to tears. It also includes some of the best live footage ever released by the band, with performances of concert favourites such as ;Jolene' and 'When I Hear My Name.'
