10 Best Japanese Rock & Metal Bands You Need To Listen To

7. Scandal

You know those classic teenage dream stories, where a bunch of high school friends form a band. They start with nothing and slowly climb to superstardom through sheer talent and hard work? Well that is Scandal in a nutshell.

In 2006, then high school students Haruna Ono, Mami Sasazaki, Tomomi Ogawa, and Rina Suzuki, came together to kick off their musical journey. What started out as performing at local shows, eventually led to their major debut on Epic Records.

Using their classic rock formula, they quickly ascended the charts and made their homes in the hearts of millions.

Western viewers too should be familiar with some of their biggest hits that were used as theme music for popular anime such as Bleach and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

As for essential listens, the songs Doll, Sakura Goodbye, Yumemiru Tsubasa, and Namida No Regret should probably be the first additions to that playlist.
