10 Best Manchester Albums Of The 2010s

6. Cool Like You - Blossoms (2018)

Another Greater Manchester pick, named after a local pub. Blossoms are no-nonsense indie pop ready for a go at arena rock. Their 2016 self-titled debut was radio ready, but lacked textures to appeal to anyone over the age of 21. Their second album Cool Like You is mature, full of bangers and politely nods to heroes of synth.

While it wasn't as successful as their debut, the album is more appealing to indie post-teens than their youthful previous effort. A coming-of-age album which feels a bit like Hot Fuss if made by a Mancunian. All songs for Cool Like You were composed on synths instead of guitar, so leaves a richer sound for musos to sink their teeth into.

Blow channels The Stone Roses, and their biggest hit I Can't Stand It celebrates the best of Britpop. Thankfully for the band their British sound has not put them off already earning headline shows in America. Blossoms sound like they are one album away from a smash hit, so it is time to bring yourself along for the ride with Cool Like You.

Their third and fourth albums have been teased for 2020, with the former called Foolish Loving Spaces to release in January.

Are Blossoms on the cusp of greatness?
