10 Best Metal Albums For Non-Metal Heads

7. Back in Black - AC/DC

Granted, it almost feels like cheating putting something like AC/DC on a list like this. From the first record onward, the Young Brothers never meant to be a metal band, instead focusing on making the harshest rock and roll records that were ever made. On the other hand, no other rock and roll record managed to really hit as hard as Back in Black.

Even when the record started, the loss of Bon Scott already had the odds stacked against these Aussies, drafting in new vocalist Brian Johnson to fill out the mix. Once they came up with the tunes though, they turned into some of the greatest anthems in the history of rock and roll, from the stadium rock of You Shook Me All Night Long to the massive shot of adrenaline that is Shoot to Thrill. The sinister edge primarily comes in the lyrics, which deal with losing Scott so young and deciding to continue on regardless, which is set up pretty prominently with the opening bell toll that starts off the entire record.

For a band that should have been dead in the water after this, Back in Black has a metallic presentation with a rock and roll heart. Wherever Bon is right now, he would surely be throwing up the devil horns in respect to his former bandmates.
