10 Best Metal Albums Of The 1990s - Ranked
5. Marilyn Manson – Antichrist Superstar
Born of controversy, Antichrist Superstar was the second studio release of Marilyn Manson, and it elaborated on everything that had been established by his first release, Portrait Of An American Family.
The dark, industrial sound of the album drew some pretty spectacular praise from critics, who loved the concept that Manson and his band had put together. Manson himself was also critically hailed for his impressive vocal performances, showing a different side of his voice with almost every track.
The songs The Beautiful People and Irresponsible Hate Anthem also aided the controversial icon on his rise to the mainstream, becoming massively successful singles, with the former being widely regarded as Manson’s most popular song.
In addition, drummer Ginger Fish, and bassist Twiggy Ramirez put in some great performances on the album, managing to accomplish the seemingly impossible task of being subtle and heavy at the same time.
