10 Best Metal EPs Of 2017 (So Far)

9. Halestorm - ReAniMate 3.0

ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP clocks in low on this list because, as its title suggests, this is Halestorm's third release to contain nothing but re-imaginings of pre-existing tracks. However, that doesn't stop these re-imaginings from being pretty darn good!

3.0 is easily the most diverse of the ReAniMate EP series, featuring the usual arbitrary modern pop cover (this time being Twenty-One Pilots' "Heathens") that Halestorm always sneak into their cover CD's, alongside rock n' roll staples such as "Ride the Lightning" and "Fell on Black Days" and the upbeat '90s hit "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover".

All of these songs are given the classic Halestorm adrenaline boost, taking every genre in the band's selection of tracks and turning them into blistering, attitudinal rock with a modern edge. As with the rest of the band's back-catalogue, ReAniMate 3.0 is driven by the ever-gorgeous vocals of frontwoman Lzzy Hale, as well as the crisp guitars of both Hale herself and co-shredder Joe Hottinger.
