10 Best Metal Live Performances You Can Watch On YouTube Right Now
4. Shining (Hellfest, 2015)
Blending together modern extreme metal, anarchic noise rock, '70s prog and even a hefty slice of jazz, Norway's Shining (not the terrible Swedish black metal band of the same name) is easily one of the most post-modern heavy acts of the 21st century. And their pummelling set at the 2015 Hellfest, hailing from deep within France, is a perfect display of this quintet's heaviest side.
Despite roaring to life with the cult hits Madness and the Damage Done, The One Inside and Fisheye, this performance spends the majority of its time whisking an adoring and red-hot audience through their then-brand new record International Blackjazz Society (2015). With world premieres of future live staples such as Last Day and Thousand Eyes, the Hellfest show marks the beginning of Shining's most popular period, which they are still riding to this very day.
Our advice? Jump on the Shining train while they're still blazing through the rock world with the speed and might of a meteor. And this complete set is a great place to start.
